Magna Community Living Services is excited about facilitating a wide selection of recreational and community activities to all who wish to participate. Here are a few of the opportunities available for recreational and leisure activities:
Annual Agency-wide Picnic
This event includes many fun and exciting games and activities such as softball, volleyball, three-legged races, balloon blowing contests, egg-tosses, Frisbee competitions and many more fun outdoor activities. Prizes are awarded to all who participate!
Agency-wide Field Trips
Every individual served by this agency, as well as their staff, have had the opportunity to get out of town and sight-see on a regular basis. Previous field trips include an exciting day at Frontier City in Oklahoma City, a wonderful weekend in Missouri at Silver Dollar City and Branson, and an exciting trip to Eureka Springs to see the passion play and have an overnight camp-out. When are we leaving for our next adventure? That's for our consumers, employees, and administrators on the Entertainment Committee to decide. Join us at our meetings and help us choose our next destination!
Holiday Parties, Gatherings, and DancesA vast majority of the clients we serve are highly socially active and enjoy getting together to eat, dance and make merry throughout the year. Sometimes, it seems like the least little thing can create a reason to get together. We have dances nearly every month and invite all agencies so we can see old friends and make new ones. We have summer cook outs and pool parties which always include lots of fun and great food! The annual Christmas party, where gifts are exchanged, awards are given and special memories are recalled and created, is also a big favorite.
Special Olympics
Magna Community Living Services considers itself a close friend of the Special Olympics. The agency not only offers competitors the opportunity to participate, but staffing (both paid and volunteer), transportation, lodging, funding, and lots of encouragement and agency-wide support. These are all ways of expressing our deep desire to see the program of Special Olympics succeed for all its participants, both at the state and national levels. We pledge our continued support to both the program and its participants.
Other Activities
Our staff members work very hard at seeking out new and exciting ways to integrate our consumers as fully into the community as possible. Some of the ways this is accomplished includes encouraging individuals to participate in city and county events which occur in our area. Time and again, our staff have gone-the extra-mile to ensure our clients realize the benefits of community living.
