Living Situations

We would like to share with you some brief outlines and examples of various living situations that are currently being provided by Magna CommunityLiving Services.

Supported Living
Individuals live in houses or apartments with one or two live-in companions to provide the highest quality of care and independence. We arrange for a choice in housing, location, roommates, and staff members to work with the individual.

Every home is supervised by a Home Manager and selected homes have Assistant Home Managers. The staff and living arrangements provide meaningful home environments. Magna staff are trained and motivated to promote independence for individuals by providing instruction in daily living skills and assisting in normal daily routines. Our professional and caring staff form a population of friends, advocates, teachers, and social role models to the individuals we serve. They also serve to facilitate our recreational activities and community-based events.

Creative Staffing
Creative staffing patterns, while adhering to the guidelines and procedures set forth for the Supported Living Program, promote a stronger feeling of home and belonging for some individuals.

The staff are trained to utilize incidental teaching techniques as teachable moments arise. The staffing schedule places fewer staff members to provide 24-hour care. In this program , HTS staff stay in the home overnight, with work schedules usually consisting of weekly shifts of 3 and 1/2 days on and 3 and 1/2 days off.

This type of staffing will not work for everyone, but does offer

  • Greater consistency in programming
  • Reduced staff turnover
  • Less intrusive lifestyle

    In-Home Supports
These services have been developed to provide quality care to individuals who live at home with their parents or guardians, or who live independently with minimal supports. Habilitation Training Specialists serve to facilitate recreational activities and community based events.

Assisted Living / Daily Living Support
We provide quality staff to assist people living independently in their own homes. Staff also serve to facilitate recreational activities and community-based events.

    Adult Companion Program
The companion program promotes normalcy and feeling of belonging. A person who is already familiar with our client or with heir special needs is selected. They live together, sharing real life experiences and capitalize on incidental teaching opportunities as they arise. This program supports a less intrusive, less restrictive lifestyle.
